the public sewer is left to be done by December 2015.
Campus Electrical Distribution Upgrade
This project involves the installation of a new 24kVa
high-voltage supply and distribution system around the
campus with transformers and selected security lighting
to meet existing and future power requirements. The
routing and technical specifications for the project were
reviewed, re-measured and re-scoped. The installation
of the upgraded line was completed on March 21, 2015
and the project now awaits commissioning pending
approval of new metering from the JPS.
Residential Hall Expansion
The female hall of residence Amy Jacques Garvey
Hall was renovated and expanded. This project
commenced on April 22, 2013 and was executed by
the contractor Sharecon Construction Limited at a
cost of $78,362,560; the duration of the contract was
thirty-four (34) weeks. At the end of the expansion the
facility boast, seventeen new dorm rooms, a computer
room, two kitchenettes, two new Resident Manager’s
quarters, a Lobby/waiting area and new bathrooms.
Dennis Johnson Halls of Residence
The Dennis Johnson Hall of Residence was renovated
and expanded to provide a better facility that provided
accommodation in a more structured and convenient
way. This project was executed by Sharecon Limited
at a cost of $80,646,366 which commenced on March
29, 2013. The design affords the following amenities,
Resident Manager’s Quarters, Reception Area, 3
Kitchens, Administrative Office, Common Dining Area,
Laundry Room, 1 Bedroom Suite, Living Area & Foyer,
Computer Room, Massage Therapy Sauna, Expansive
Balconies, 9 Dormitory Quarters, Recreational Areas
and restrooms.
