Project Management
In the period under review, the Faculty tendered for
management of thirteen (13) projects from which eight
(8) successful bids earned $11,496,484.00 . Of note
were the following contracts:
Provision of onsite training in pneumatics and
programmable logic controllers for participants in St
Kitts.
The joint Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater
Management, National Water Commission contract
to develop a wastewater management programme
for the Caribbean and provide wastewater operator
training for NWC plant operators.
Short Courses
Seven short professional courses covering Air
Conditioning and Refrigeration, Introduction to
Energy Efficiency Audits, Water and Wastewater
Operators, Programmable Logic Controllers, Basic and
Advanced Standby Generators provided income of
$11,659,750.00. A total of 124 persons were trained as
part of these short courses

The PROCEED Caribbean Project
The Faculty is a partner in the
Promotion of Capacity and Energy
Education Development in the
Caribbean Region (PROCEED
CARIBBEAN) project. The Lead
partner is the University of Turku,
Finland Futures Research Centre
(FFRC) and other partners include
The University of the West Indies,
Cave Hill and Mona Campuses and
the University of Oriente, Cuba.
University of Miami Research
Fellowship
Mr Julian Jarrett, Lecturer, SCIT, was the first
beneficiary of a research fellowship funded by
University of Miami’s Graduate School, which is the
outcome of a MOU between UTech, Jamaica./SCIT
and University of Miami.
University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)
The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) and the
University of Technology, Jamaica/SCIT signed a MOU
in May 2014 to enhance the educational experience and
cross-cultural understanding of students and faculty of
both institutions.
Saint Mary’s University (SMU)
Through a MOU signed in January 2015 UTech,
Jamaica/SCIT forged an institutional relationship with
SMU, Canada, to cooperate and share information for
five (5) years in areas of joint interest.
A partnership has been forged between Saint Mary’s
University and UTech, Jamaica to develop future
business leaders in ICT, biotechnology and consumer
analytics. Over the next four years, UTech, Jamaica,
Jamaica will receive ten (10) students from SMU
and SMU will receive five (5) students from UTech,
Jamaica. These scholars will each undertake, study,
research or internship for a specified duration between
