His exemplary tenure resulted in the transformation and professionalization of the Force, including institutional changes and developments that have enhanced the JCF’s operational capacity and public trust.

Under his command, major crimes were at their lowest in over 20 years. Most notably, under his exemplary leadership, the JCF achieved ISO 9001 certification, becoming the only police force in the region to implement a quality management system that significantly uplifts its service delivery standards.

Major General Anderson has held several command appointments throughout his career, including Commanding Officer for the JDF Air Wing and the 1 Engineer Regiment (JDF). Prior to his appointment as Commissioner of Police, he served as Jamaica’s first National Security Advisor and, for six years, as the Chief of Defence Staff of the JDF. He also spent two years as the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, responsible for force strategy, future plans and development, coordination of the National Security Strategy, and the implementation of the JDF's Strategic Defence Review (SDR). In September 2024, he was appointed by the Prime Minister to head the newly established Disaster Risk Management Review Committee (DRMRC)—a technical committee formed to strengthen Jamaica’s response to disasters.

Major General Anderson has served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Fire Brigade and Heart Trust/NTA, and as Chairman of the Firearm Licensing Authority. He is also a Justice of the Peace for the parish of Kingston.
