Know the International Students' Office (ISO). It should be your point of reference throughout your tenure at UTech. Ensure that the ISO has your current address and telephone contacts at all times. If you change your home address or telephone number during the academic year, please inform the ISO. This is applicable to new and returning students.
Contact the ISO for information relating to references for opening bank accounts, etc.
Secure the necessary Extension of Stay for studying in Jamaica. Contact the ISO for assistance in making the application.
Collect your health card from your College/Faculty.
Register with your country's local consulate/embassy.
Contact the Financial Aid Office for scholarships and earn and study opportunities.
Be aware of your surroundings at all times; ensure that you read the security and safety brochures prepared by that department.
Read your Student Handbook; familiarize yourself with all the institution's regulations.
Know your Students' Union Representatives.
Participate in activities organized by the ISO and the University of Technology, Jamaica, International Students' Association (UTISA). These activities are planned for your benefit and your full participation is vital to their success. Ensure that all financial issues are settled on time.
Participate in dorm activities; you are only guaranteed space for the first year. retention of accommodation on Hall is partially dependent on your involvement in resident life activities.
