About the UTech, Ja. Wellness Centre
The Wellness Centre is the proud recipient of the Environmental Health Foundation award for Outstanding Contributions to the promotion of Wellness and healthy lifestyles (2013).
- The Centre currently trains all the Dietetics/Nutrition (D/N) students in Nutrition Counseling.
- Provide the services of Registered Dietitian/Nutritionists who can offer lifestyle enhancing programmes in nutrition, weight management, fitness, stress reduction, and food/ drug interaction.
- Participates in health and wellness related fairs, seminars, workshops and conferences.
- Has a small library of reference books and food models.
- Hopes to engage in research related to Chronic Non Communicable Diseases and "preventative maintenance" to encourage life long healthy lifestyles.
- Supervised by a coordinator and operated by D/N students on a rotational basis.

Activities of the Centre include:
- Currently trains all the DN3 and DN4 students in techniques of Nutrition Counseling Graded assessments based on counseling skills are part of the DN4 curriculum
- Since 2012 the Unit is a preceptor site for DN4 students
- Engaged in a joint research project on "Cassava" with the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Department
