University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 27 Graduation Ceremony The 2017 Graduation Ceremony was held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 am at the National Arena with over 800 graduates and approximately 5,000 guests attending. This represented a 20% increase in attendance when compared to the previous graduation ceremony. y Honorary degrees (Hon. LLD) were conferred on Mr. Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson, CD, JP, The Rev. Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin and The Hon Mrs. Justice Zaila Rowena McCalla, OJ, by the University of Technology, Jamaica. y The Valedictory address was given by Miss Crystal Rose Taylor who obtained First Class Honours from the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies. y Five (5) special needs students were among the graduating class of 2017. Mr. Gerald Guy received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Electrical Engineering, Ms. Patricia Watson, Ms. Joanna Burrell and Mrs. Karene Ramsey- Mayne received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) while Mr. Vincent Coates received a Diploma in Structural Engineering.
