Owing to the abovementioned delays, the timeline for completion of the Second Septennial Review and closing-down of the project had to be extended. Student Recruitment The Student Recruitment Unit continued the campaign to identify prospective students; provide themwith accurate and useful information about the University and encouraged them to apply to the University. The student recruitment activities carried out throughout the year included documenting and responding to prospect enquiries, responding to letters of invitation from schools, organizing teams for school visits and career fairs to promote the University. The Unit participated in 46 Expo/ College fairs over the reporting period. The Unit also organized for representatives from Colleges and Faculties to visit and make presentations to approximately 42 high schools. Open House The 2017 Annual Open House was held on September 26 in Kingston and on September 29 in Montego Bay under the theme “Find Your Place at the Birthplace of Greatness.” Over 1,200 students from 36 high schools participated in Kingston and over 300 from 11 schools participated in Montego Bay. At the Papine location 58% of the participants submitted applications on the day and 55% in Montego Bay. Debating and Public Speaking Society Three student teams from the UTech, Jamaica Debating and Public Society participated in the 2018 World Universities Debating championship held at The Monterrey Institute of Higher Education & Technology in Santa Fe, Mexico. The UTech, Jamaica contingent included Coach, Germaine Barrett and Advisors, Mercedes Deane and Garcia Green-Mclennon who all attended in the A UTech, Ja nursing student speaks with prospective students from Morant Bay High at the 2017 Open House in Kingston.
