University of Technology, Jamaica “Pioneering Past; Bright Future ” ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 13 2.The launch of the Co-op Ed Student Ambassador Programme in October 2017, wherein a number of students were trained to promote the Co-op Ed Programme to other students across the University. These student ambassadors were primarily responsible for the activities of the Co-op Ed Awareness Day held each semester. Course of Study Development Proposals for the following new courses of study were reviewed by the Curriculum Committee • The Associate Degree in Image Consulting & Fashion Styling • New Minor for the B.Sc. in Child & Adolescent Development Letters of Intent for the following new courses of study were presented to the Board of Undergraduate Studies. • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems Course of Study • Associate Degree in Baking and Pastry Arts • Computer Information Systems • Computer Networking and Security • Fashion Styling & Image Consulting The Curriculum Committee of the Board of Undergraduate Studies examined revisions made to the following courses of study: • B.Sc. Land Economy and Valuation Surveying • B.Sc. in Surveying and Geographic Information Sciences • B.Sc. in Midwifery Workshops The Curriculum Unit conducted the following workshops for academic staff. • Syllabus Writing for the Caribbean School of Architecture • Improving Students’ Writing Skills through Feedback Workshop for the School of Engineering Lecturers • Master in The Built Environment -MSc. BE Course Review Prior Learning Assessment The Prior Learning Assessment Unit continues to make it possible for applicants who do not meet the normal requirements for matriculation, to gain entry into their course of study of choice. During the period under review, nineteen (19) undergraduate and six (6) graduate applicants were granted unconditional acceptance and are currently enrolled into various courses of study across the University. Additionally, the Unit piloted the module exemption exercise utilizing ISAS, with three undergraduate students, who were successful in achieving credits for most of the modules challenged. The Unit engaged in ten (10) promotional activities which targeted mature individuals and continues to follow up on interest shown.
