This was reflected in savings of US$25,017. To date, approximately 42% of the total project costs have been recovered from savings. Fifth Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF V) The Fifth Caribbean Sustainable Energy Forum (CSEF V) was held from 23-25 January 2017 in The Bahamas and attended by nearly 100 participants from the Caribbean, USA, and Europe and from the major international development agencies working in the region (World Bank, Caribbean Development Bank, IDB, OAS, GIZ). CSEF facilitates dialogue and actions towards the adoption of more robust policies and the transfer of appropriate technologies in renewable energy and energy efficiency in CARICOM. Over the three days several panels featuring government Ministers and some of the biggest names in the regional energy field discussed a range of issues pertinent to the Community’s transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Social Good Summit 2016 Dr. Ruth Potopsingh participated as a panellist at the UNDP Social Good Summit launch ceremony held on 19 September 2016 under the theme Connecting Today; Creating Tomorrow. The event is held annually during UN Global Assembly Week and explored the impact of technology and innovation on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). International Maritime Organization (IMO) training course on Legal, Policy and Institutional Reforms (LPIR) Development and Implementation of MARPOL Annex VI The GloMEEP training was held from 12-14 September in Batumi, Georgia, which is one of the Lead Pilot Countries of the Project. This training course has paved the way for further work in climate change mitigation by the maritime sector. Jamaica is a recent addition to the project which is being led by the Maritime Authority of Jamaica. This engagement resulted in a further IMO-sponsored training for two lecturers from FENC in Model Course on the Energy Efficient Operation of Ships in Panama.
