Research, Technology and Innovation Day The University’s Annual Research, Technology and Innovation Day was held on 30 March 2017. Each of the three colleges and five faculties mounted exhibitions displaying examples of the research and innovation work being done. The Speakers’ Forum saw 17 public presentations being made by UTech, Jamaica researchers – many of whom were interviewed on the outside broadcast on radio. The publication for RTID 2017, jointly prepared by the SGSRE and the Corporate Communications Unit, was a compendium of all documented staff publications from 2007, when the SGSRE was established, to 2016. Newly-appointed University President Prof. Stephen Vasciannie was the Keynote Speaker for the Opening Ceremony of RTID 2017, and used the opportunity to set out his vision for University research. The Opening Ceremony was carried on radio in a delayed nationwide broadcast. Research Ethics The University is committed to high standards of research integrity. Researchers in the University are therefore required to demonstrate integrity, honesty and professionalism in the conduct of their research. To build their capacity, members of the University’s Ethics Committee have High school students engage with a display at RTID.
