The first session was held in September 30, 2016 in association with Red Stripe. The session was intended to educate students on how to ‘DRINK RIGHT’…in other words, how to consume alcoholic beverages responsibly. b. The second Lunch and Learn Session was held in partnership with the National Family Planning Board (NFPB) on February 13, 2017. The focus of this session was sexual reproductive health, and included Free HIV testing. Deaf Sensitization Session The Counselling Unit hosted two Deaf Sensitization sessions in association with the Jamaica Association for the Deaf. Staff from various departments showed great interest and interfaced with deaf and hearing impaired students. Some of the topics covered included: y y Do’s and Don’ts of Communicating with the deaf y y Deaf culture y y Communicating with the deaf y y How the deaf student learns...teaching techniques. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS A total of 165 international students registered for courses of study during the period April 2016 to March 2017. These included 143 full-time students, and 22 franchise students. The 143 full- time international students included 81 males and 62 females. This figure is 6.75% less than last year’s registration figure of 153. Table 1 shows the breakdown of international students’ registration by country and gender. For the year under review, 58 or 41% of registered international students were on scholarships and the remaining 85 or 59% were privately funded. Trinidad and Tobago had the highest number of sponsored students, that is 44.74%, followed by St. Vincent and the Grenadines with 20%.
