Student/Graduate Recruitment Programme Requests from prospective recruiters numbered 375 for the year ending March 2016. This reflected a 12% decrease in available jobs. One hundred and two (102) confirmed job placements were recorded, a 9% decrease when compared to last year’s 113 confirmed placements. Chart 1: Available jobs 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 Chart 2: Confirmed placements 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 Graduate Tracer Study 2015 A tracer study was conducted among 2014 graduates in summer of 2015. The study had 328 respondents of which 55% indicated that they were employed, and 45% indicated that they were unemployed. Chart 3: Percentage of employed and unemployed graduates of 2014. Of the 328 respondents, 13% were employed in administrative jobs, 12% in Accounting and Finance, 7% in customer service, 5% in engineering, Supervisory positions and Information Technology. The remaining 53% of the respondents were employed sales/ marketing (6%), Teaching (15%), National Security (1%), Medical Science (8%), Technicians (4%) and skilled worker (6%). Chart 4: Showing areas the Graduates were employed Client Visits, Career Sessions, and Resume Reviews The Office logged 784 visits of students to the Unit for assistance for the period. These persons were seeking Job Assistance (summer, part-time, full-time, and voluntary and internship), Information on Work Orientation Exhibition The annual new students’ orientation was held from August 16 - 20, 2015 with 31 companies, seven faculties/colleges and ten clubs participating. Gift items were received from seven companies (Peaks Bottling, Ab-Tad Jewellers, Allied Insurance, Purity Bakery, Old MacDonald, Seprod, and World Brands). National Commercial Bank (NCB) and Sagicor were the ma or sponsors. Projected income from sponsorship was $867,000. Employment Empowerment Session Fourteen Employment Empowerment sessions were conducted at the Papine campus. Approximately 170 students attended each session. The sessions focused on entrepreneurship and building a strong business foundation as a college student.
