The Academic Affairs Division p r o v i d e s leadership and academic support ser v i ces for development and implementation of s tandards, p o l i c i e s , p r o c e d u r e s and regulations to govern the delivery of all the University’s a c a d e m i c p r o g r a mm e s . Con s equen t l y, the Division, through the Accreditation Unit was fully engaged in the mobilization efforts throughout the University to start preliminary activities required for its application for Institutional Accreditation. The Office of Curriculum Development and Evaluation (OCDE), the Office of Distance Learning (ODL) and the Calvin McKain Library are constituent departments of this Division, which falls under the direction of the Deputy President. Some highlights • An Online Module Instructor Evaluation System (OLMIES) was developed for Students’ evaluation of all instructors and modules. • An Academic Calendar was developed for the 2016/17 Academic Year to facilitate alignment of key university activities with the strategic development plan, and to foster a higher level of time management and efficiency. • The opening of a new branch of the Calvin McKain Library at the School of Oral Health Sciences, Arthur Wint Drive campus in January 2016. Accreditation The University started preliminary activities required for its application for Institutional Accreditation. This involves updating the current Institutional Self Study. During the period April 2015 to March 2016, the Accreditation Unit provided support to the University’s Colleges and Faculties in their preparation for accreditation. The following courses were accredited/ re-accredited during the period: • Bachelor of Business Administration (all specializations) • Bachelor of Science in Computing • Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition • Bachelor of Science in Land Economy and Valuation Surveying • Bachelor of Science in Food Service Management (old course) • Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management (old course) • Associate of Science in Health Information and Technology Canadian Student Exchange Programme In keeping with the College of Business and Management’s efforts to continue its collaborative partnership with the University of Prince Edward Island and Brandon University, eight students from School of Business Administration and six (6) students from School of Hospitality and Tourism Management were nominated for Humber College to participate in the Canada-CARICOM Leadership Scholarships Program 2016/17, which is offered by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development and administered by the Canadian Bureau for International Education.
